I went to Heathrow for two days as I hadn’t been in many years and got very lucky and saw most of the aircraft I hoped to see.

Weather started off dull and cool on Sunday and improved at lunchtime, all in all I took 5000 shots over the two days. I haven’t been in 7 years and was determined to find new angles and spots rather than Myrtle. Nothing wrong with Myrtle but I’ve seen other spots on Flickr and wasn’t going to waste my time at Heathrow so walked all the way around to old visitor center. The stand there I didn’t even go into the car park I can’t believe how poor it is. Considering the height of the roof they really could have elevated the levels up another 10ft and trimmed the trees.
Seriously if someone was going to take a pot shot at a flight the airport is wide open on all sides and in places around by the BA hangars you are no more than 50ft from an aircraft so to worry about spotters in a few confined looked after monitored spots is ridiculous.
Around Dublin airport they have provides two embankments to the height of the fencing so you can view without obstruction. The grass raised by 3ft mound could be added to by 6ft and do the job. Slice the trees and raise the levels on the stand by a few feet.
I know this has been discussed at length here and on many forums but considering they embrace us on one hand and push us away on the other is ridiculous. The spotters are never going to go away.
