Hi all,
Does anybody know where Heathrow’s long haul arrivals are diverting to following the closure of the airport earlier today? I know only that the Thai Airways flight from Bangkok has diverted to Copenhagen, but there are others that I can find nothing about.

… and I wish I wasn’t! (hopefully catching BA76 LAD – LHR tomorrow and on to MAN)
BA76 was early into LHR and BA1386 was only minutes late to MAN – spot on BA people – thanks!

There’s a compound on the southside with an old 737 in it… just do a quick switcheroo….. BA will never know 😛

I have seen that there are 4 x BA 747’s in Athens, and one in Glasgow (G-CIVT).
Alot diverted to CGN too – Air India 773, Cathay 744, Azerbaijan A319 and Korean Cargo 744.
Munich got a few too – Royal Brunei 777 and various BA bits.

There are a fair few flights stuck at BRU due to non-availability of the fluid. Since the fluid comes from France at BRU and a lot of arterial roads are closed due to ice, it seems a lot of flights are not going anywhere.
The aircraft that is scheduled to pick me up for DEL on Wednesday is also currently stranded at BRU, passengers are being taken to London via road.

Seems like a shortage of de-icing fluid around Europe is adding to the chaos.
And no doubt the suppliers have put up their prices!
One rumour I heard whilst at work, apparently £6million was spent on de-icing the runways and taxiways over the weekend.

so how is LHR holding up today?
single runway ops (the other main apparently isn’t going to be deiced till Wednesday)..arrivals and departures going ahead but a long way to go before any sort of normality is restored
By: Bograt - 20th December 2010 at 13:28
Not bad…plenty of flights showing on the radar. No doubt well down on normal, but all of the usual suspects seem to be flying in or out. At the moment there’s TAP, Swissair, Etihad and Emirates, plus BA all in the approach.

LBA also got a few diversions, some ryanairs, a BMI A319, BA A320 & a B727! does anyone no of any other diversions to LBA?
I missed it as well! Departed yesterday back to STN at 1650! 😡 We had a Aer Arann ATR in morning from Manchester plus a few over Blackpool and Manchester divs night before, nothing too special though 🙁 We almost got a Wizz A320 and a few Easys from Liverpool but the refuelers had gone home by 11pm and they wanted a uplift, so they went Luton instead 🙁

At Manchester on Sunday we had
USAir A330-200 diverted from Paris
EK A380 that has stayed the night
SQ 777 that also stayed the night
We were threatened with a Qantas 747
EY were planning an extra two flights today and were going to bus passengers up from LHR
EY, Air NZ and QR bussed passengers up from LHR and operated the services out of Manchester.

maybe just my ignorance, but shouldn’t LHR be much better equipped to handle snow by now? Especially after the same thing happened last year, and more than anything just because of the amount of traffic LHR sees?
THink it’s probably to do with not being able to cope with 5 inches of snow within a 3 hour period…yes other cold countries cope much better but then again they are likely have snow for 2 or 3 months of the winter not 4-5 days so it comes down to how much the airports want to invest in equipment that may not see very much use…of course if as various bodies have predicted there will be longer harder winters in this part of the world then the likes of the BAA may well change their winter plans
