Hi all,
Managed to get up to Heathrow today with Andrew (more commonly known on here as A330Crazy) and we had a great day photographing the huge assortment of aircraft at the airport. Aircraft were departing runway 27L until 3.00pm, at which time, the runways changed.
The weather was very good, although the sun has resulted in over-exposure to some of the images.

I am a huge fan myself, and I must admit, this is one departing aircraft I was looking forward to seeing. The few others who had gathered at the Esso station actually moved around frantically when this one went out, trying to get as many shots as they could. Thai’s 747s in the new colours don’t seem to visit as often as they should.
Excellent work Michael! Was this your first attempt with the 400D? What lense are you using?
Thanks Dan. It was my first outing with the 400D and I was using a Tamron 55-200mm lens including in this little Jessops package. Once I’ve cracked that, I’ll look to move onto something chunkier. :p

Very, very nice work, and if that was an early shooting session with a DSLR you should be producing stunning work very soon!
Just as a quick point, none of the images do look too horrendously over-exposed but if they were it wouldn’t be the fault of the Sun, or the camera! In time you’ll adjust your settings to cope with the conditions you’re shooting in. All good fun! 🙂
