dark light

Heathrow & Luton 2 Oct 2010

The weather closed in around 1430, but we managed a few before then. Sadly the ‘retro’ 757 didnt appear.

We decided to head off to Luton as the runway changed to 09, and the drizzle got worse.
At Luton we drove straight around the back, and the weather got steadily worse with the cloudbase around 150ft! A US Citation Mustang diverted, which was a blow as I needed it. Still, not often you get a Chinese and a Tunisian bizjet

Cloudwarrior… I’d have allowed a little more space in front of the ANZ 747 but you get away with it more because of the position of the 747 cockpit windows…at least on Key Forum you can edit how you wish!

Longshot
I know what you mean. Take the ANZ 747. No way is it centred, but to get the whole image in the frame, the fuselage has to be positioned on the left of the photo. Ive had similar photos rejected from sites because its not centred. But if you centre it you have to crop off the wing. and then I’ll get a rejection for bad crop! You can’t win.

Lovely….my favourites the US Airways A330 (note the 747 ‘in the circuit’ above its nose), the Transaero 767 and the Air Canada 767 .Re the tutorial thread I would say the Transaero is perfectly ‘centred’ by cropping the tailplane like that. Shooting 3/4 front close in (giving a slight 3D effect,as at Myrtle Avenue) makes the shots much easier on the eye than the extreme telephoto shots that have to be used at places like Hong Kong…and the photographer is allowing a little more space for the nose 🙂

Thankyou. From a photography point of view the curtailed visit was a bit of a blow. Good job I crunch numbers :p

Nice work.

The Air Canada 777 and Aeroflot A319 are the pick of the bunch for me. 🙂

I was at Heathrow myself last weekend – and the weather was horrific from a photographic point of view.

Nice and clear shots, the biz jets came out sharp despite the conditions. Good work 🙂

Nice photos, Darren, really nice and clear. Shame about the BA retro not showing up but you still came away with plenty of good shots! 🙂
