Heathrow or Northolt?

The attached grabs are from the film ‘Barbados Quest’ which was released in July 1955 and presumably filmed in late 1954 early 1955. I presume that they show aspects of Heathrow or Northolt and wonder if anyone can identify any of them?

Very many thanks, so it’s (from the top) Heathrow, Heathrow, Blackbushe and Blackbushe. Thanks again.

The last two pictures of Vikings are at Blackbushe. As already said the white post and the background give the game away. Whilst we did operate a number of flights out of Northolt and LAP the main ones were from Blackbushe.

I’d forgotten all about that transformer building on the south side – I spent many hours standing next to it!
A quick search throws up a number of photos of the white fencing at Blackbushe and the tree line is much the same today. Eagle started regular services with Vikings from there in 1953.

The Pan Am DC-6B is taxying towards the Pan Am hangar on the southern taxiway at Heathrow see my photo…same transformer building RHside

The TCA Super Constellation landing on 28L is shot from much the same location

The Viking photos are Blackbushe (99% certain)…the low white ‘trip-over’ chain fence on the tarmac edge was iconic. Northolt reverted to military use (May54/Wiki…I thought it was a little later, but making film use less likely)

The top picture is taken from the south side at Heathrow. Are the last two Blackbushe?

Don’t know enough about Blackbushe from then, but I’m certainly not convinced the last two are Northolt, as the tree line visible in the last photo is not like Northolt would be from the south side buildings looking north-east…?

Many thanks. I don’t know much about planes but I presume the Viking is the plane viewed through the waiting room windows?

Both.

The Connie is landing past the BEA maintenance hangar at Heathrow, completed in 1954 (later known as TBD).

The DC-6 could be either, but would have been an unusual visitor at Northolt, I think. My guess is that it’s at the western end of what would then have been LHR 28R, but I expect there are other possibilities.

The Viking shots are at Northolt.
