Helidays

At the risk of getting grief for metioning the “H” type of flying machine, is anyone going this year or is it an event that people avoid or don’t admit to attending in polite forum company?
I only ask as I will be there, provided the garage get me my car back in time, all weekend working it and wondered it anyone would be there to say hello to.
And I posted this here as I didn’t know quite where to put it as it covers all three major forum.

Saw you there last year with Neil P. on the Friday. Lovely weather and no crowds during the arrivals, but THIS year it’s currently 8/8 grey, cold and windy! 😮 Do you know what’s coming, SHOULD the weather improve?
Anything out of the ordinary like a Polish W-3, special scheme Belgian Sea King – I wish!

Albert Ross
Saturday was really busy and the field was closed due to lack of space lots of R44’s a few R22’s and Enstroms and Jet Rangers turning up on the Saturday. The wind kept numbers well down on Sunday. Sunday did include the Bo105 air ambulance and the Police EC.135.

Well back and now rested from doing the night security looking after the helicopters and I can tell you the pod contains a camera used for hydrographics work down south. They were en-route to Cosford apparently to take part in some tri-service photo thing.
There was some friendly competition between the German CH-53 crew and the Dutch Chinook crew as to who had the biggest chopper!

Ah, thanks for that! That’s about what I thought the Lynx pod would be used for, as I hadn’t heard of the need for an additional radar or even an AEW Lynx?

How many of them were there?

Was Weston on the coast for the event or was the tide out ?

Helidays

Here are some shots from Helidays yesterday of the Italian AF HH-3F and the HMS Endurance Lynx. Does any one know what the ‘pod’ attached to the port side is for?

With all those egg beaters in one place, I would think there will be one big omelette. 😀

Yes, I plan to go there today as I aways kick myself when I see photos of all the interesting choppers they get there! Strange, RIAT can’t get things like a Polish Mi-2, but Helidays can! Does anyone know what is coming this year?

That upper turret came from Argentina, you know. Useless bit of information wouldn’t you say?

I use to live just up the road from Weston on the Mud, smelly place full of donkeys.

I can remember the first eggbeater days back in the early 80’s, better still I can remember my first airshow at the airport/field in 1973ish, in particular BBMF’s Lanc without an upper turret. I have some pictures somewhere taken by my mother of a young EN830 and a few aeroplanes.
