Greece is supposed to be getting 60 (50+10 op) F-16 BLOC52’s and 18 Mirage-2000-5’s to equip its air force, beginning in early 2003 ands ending in late 2004.
Any idea which squadrons these will be going to?
All I know is that the A-7H Corsairs at Souda will be reequipped with F-16’s, but where will the A-7’s go then?
Secondly, what is happening with the 36 F-4E Phantoms that are supposed to have been ICARUS upgraded by now? A bit silly isn’t it?
If Greece, in its current financial position, really wants to take on Eurofighter Typhoon, they should probably consider cutting the Phantom fleet in half, and get rid of all those remaining Mirage-F1’s. In my opinion, they are a burden to the this air force.
Thirdly, what is the status of the C-12 Spartan purchase for Greece. I heard 12 aircraft.
Fourthly, what is the arrival date for the 4 Embraer AWE&R aircraft?
