Hello all! Favourite Old Warden memories?

Well, I made my very first post in the Old Warden pub thread – hope it is of help. I should be going along to Shuttleworth this afternoon as long as the weather holds.

I’m pretty local to Shuttleworth have been going along as often as possible since I moved here about 8 years ago.

One of my best memories is seeing Black-6 here a few years back – a truly impressive machine and superbly flown.

And yours?

So many great memories of past Shuttleworth shows, but one that that sticks in my mind is a Military Pageant in the early nineties when well before the show was due to start Hoof Proudfoot suddenly appeared over Old Warden at treetop hight and at full speed in the Hellcat then landed her on the grass and takied up to were we were standing. Never seen anything as big and powerfull as the Hellcat land there since, with the exception of the Avenger.
I count myself lucky to have been there to see the original Nieuport 28 and Sopwith Camel flying. Great and unique aircraft sadly now in the States and grounded.

My favourite Shuttleworth shows were the ones where there is a lot of outside displays as they always seem to be closer and a lot of them take advantage of the ‘bend’. My top show has to be the Air Spectacular of 1996 which is the best display they have ever had there in my opinion. I went on the Sunday { the day after the unfortunate fatal accident with Pete Clark in the Slingsby } it was a day tinged with sadness but it was on hell of a line up for old warden….. these are the outside acts on that day…………..
Red Stars Racing Team
Grumman Avenger
FG1 D Corsair – TFC
Crunchie Flying Circus
Folland Gnat – Kennet
Turbulent Team
Spitfire IX – MJ730
B-17 Sally B
Jet Provost – XN637
F8F Bearcat – TFC
Extra 300 – Microlease
Westland Gazelle – RN
Westland Lysander – V9545
Antonov An-2 – Utt Butt
PBY Catalina
Spitfire XVI – TE184
NA Harvard – P5865
Met Police Parachute Team

Add to this the shuttleworth heavies and a WW1 set piece and you have a show that will probably never be repeated at old warden.
