Hello and First Question

Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading this forum for many weeks now and have finally got around to subscribing to it. I’ve been fascinated by civil aircraft for years, but nothing more than trivial.

Anyway, I thought I’d start with my first question for all you experts out there. Whenever I travel, I like to know how old an aircraft is and what its history is – however I have never been able to find the answer to these questions. Sure, I can find the registration number and where it sits in company fleet listings, but is there anyway I can go that can tell me how old an aircraft is and who its previous operators were?

For example, I have just returned from a round trip to two BY 752’s; they were aircraft AH and AL. Is there a website that would tell me the history of these aircraft?

Forgive me if my question may be naive but as you may tell, I’m new to this game.

RE: Hello and First Question

Being in the middle of EGNT and EGNM I’d have thought competition would have been quite hard for anybody trying to get somthing going at Teeside. Its all about demand and if theres none of that then there is no point in starting an operation there (like Sheffield). Airlines will not be flocking to Teeside for a reason.

Regards

Ben

GO at Newcastle is a probable expansion, EZY are a Liverpool operation as are FR so as a Leeds/Bradford based player i dont really think we have a real chance at the moment!!

RE: Hello and First Question

LGKR,

I don’t do any spotting though Teesside is my preferred airport.

I’ve never understood why Teesside isn’t bigger than it actually is. It is smack bang in the middle of NCL and LBA and therefore has a decent catchment area. I’d love to see some low cost airlines moving into the area (in addition to the FR Dublins, and GO Stansteds). With no significant low cost operations at any of these airports, surely a base at MME would be marketable.

I do think the market is there but no-one seems to be going for it in the North East.

Any thoughts anyone?

RE: Hello and First Question

Pembo,

I see you’re in Middlesborough – kinda close to me in County Durham 🙂

Ever get down to EGNT very much, or are you an EGNV kinda guy??

Would be good to hear from you on here – swap email addresses??
