Hello, I just wanted to say introduce myself. I’ve been browsing this forum for ever but only just got round to registering; haven’t done it before because I know precious little about commercial aircraft compared to anyone else here.
Bought my first decent camera last week as well so I should be able to add my own contribution from time to time. Below is my very first effort: a wing shot over Ireland flying from LAX to Heathrow on a BA 744.
Could I ask what platform people here use to post their photos online? I’ve used a Yahoo photo album but it’s not great- the picture has been reduced in size for some reason. Since I don’t have a website are any there better (and free) online photo albums around anyone could recommend?

Go into the user options for the forum and make sure you haven’t checked the option that makes images come up as a link.

Then you can add it to the post by clicking on the ‘IMG’ button near the top, and putting the address in here.If the photo is still on your hard-drive, just put it as an attatchment and it will magically appear when you post! 😉
The funny thing is I just did that (right-clicking, copying URL and using the IMG feature) but it still came up as a link. Perhaps it doesn’t support Yahoo photos.

Thanks for the advice! I bought a Sony DSCP10. This picture was taken at a resolution setting of 3.1m pixels but the highest setting it does is 5m pix so hopefully it’ll produce nice and crisp images.

Yes welcome to the forums! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it here. Nice picture, what camera is it you have bought? I’m sure if many of your pictures are like that, they may be worth putting on websites such as airliners.net, and if you do not feel they are that good, planepictures.net seems to accept photos more easily. I use planepictures.net as more of an album for myself, as they accept quite a lot of my photos, and it still allows me and others to access them whenever I want. If you want to get noticed, and want to get lots of people looking at your photos, then try getting some of them on airliners.net. Hope this helps!

Welcome aboard mate, unfortunately your link isn’t working just now but I’m sure it’s a nice picture. Don’t worry about not knowing much about commercial aircraft, I certainly don’t but that’s why I come here to learn a bit from those that do.
As for a photo album.. try www.myaviation.net it’s A.net’s sister site and they don’t have a rejection policy.

Well I can tell most planes apart by looking at them and I’m familiar with the basics of all current Boeing and Airbus models. Which I guess puts my knowledge above the average person on the street but certainly doesn’t get anywhere near the level seen here regarding engines, configurations, climb rates and other technical stuff. Hell, I can’t even post my image directly on the thread 🙁 😉

Welcome, hope you get a lot out of this forum. Nice shot btw. I like it a lot.
But your post made me wonder why so many people hang around here for ever and then registar?
