Many thanks for those leads. I do like LAS and Aircraft Spruce but it is useful to have alternates.

…..My family buy me annual subscriptions to aviation magazines, thus I can keep up-to-date with much helpful trade advertising. What I value most, is access to advertising that advises me where to select and buy a range of aviation ‘nuts & bolts’, including aviation grade aluminium alloys, braking systems and most of the detailed components involved in aircraft maintenance and repair……
If you leave your ad-choices switched on for the forum and you’re using your computer to search for the aviation items that you mention, or even just type up a few documents you’ll soon get plenty of adverts appearing for the products you’re interested in!
Click on a few of the adverts and you’ll also be helping Key fund the forum and G**g*e recoup some profit!
I never did understand how they made their money until I ran some ‘Adword’ campaigns!! 😮
Alternatively you could visit NAM’s Aeroboot next Saturday and you may find some bits there! :diablo:

How would you set the rules though? You’d get every lunatic in the world showing up to get the ‘value’ of a corroded heap of aluminium or trying to flog it to gullible enthusiasts (there are some!), being told it’s scrap here by those who know, and then it appears on flea-bay for £2000 as a rare Spitfire component as endorsed by Key Publishing……

I don’t see a problem if members have private items for sale.

Not alternatives so much as supplements. I’ve dealt with Mendelssohn’s on many occasions and have nothing but praise for their customer service.
My family buy me annual subscriptions to aviation magazines, thus I can keep up-to-date with much helpful trade advertising. What I value most, is access to advertising that advises me where to select and buy a range of aviation ‘nuts & bolts’, including aviation grade aluminium alloys, braking systems and most of the detailed components involved in aircraft maintenance and repair.
On a slightly different theme – and I do understand that there might be consequences for commercial paid advertising, I think that a private members ‘bring buy, sell or exchange’ Forum of aviation components would be a useful adjunct to this website. Items offered, could be limited to a certain value – nothing exceeding say, £200.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this idea has already been mooted. If it has it would be interesting to see the responses.

The point is that the appearances here are a clumsy attempt at social media marketing. It’s a subject i am deeply involved in, though motor industry rather than aviation.
The pop-ups here are attempting promotion without the costs of media advertising.
Key’s attitude is “If you advertise in our magazines, thus subsidising the printing of our books, we’ll cut you some slack here. But try and get the coverage for nothing and the mods will get you”
If you seek alternatives to Transair and LAS my first port of call would be advertisers in the printed issues of FLYER. My preferred Transair alternative being Harry Mendelssohn.

That’s answered that question. I must be even more naive than I thought. Perhaps there is a case for an aviation commercial Forum. It would be more than useful to read about aviation related products and to compare like with like.
At the moment I rely on two trade catalogues – Transair and LAS and occasionally AFE, though AFE have not been particularly reliable, especially in one instance. For my part, I’d certainly welcome more aviation trade information.

It is disrespectful, duplicitous and annoying.
Rather like the posters here who have never come before…and will never come back after they get what they want…asking for help on school or university projects.
They seem to say “Tell me everything you know about commercial air transport” (or some other huge subject).

And I dislike posters of ‘no fixed abode,’ (except Propstrike:D). :p

Moggy has been nice, I usually ban them, and pull their post. but, he’s right, a nice hello is always pleasant to read… without the spam link, that is.

The assumption ( and with good reason ) is that they are flying a false flag,
and the cheery bonhomie and faux interest in our forum is nothing more than a ruse to employ our bandwidth and attention as a platform for their commercial enterprise.
It is disrespectful, duplicitous and annoying.

I realise that this question makes me a hostage to fortune but, exactly what is it about a ‘commercial’ link that raises your ire?
Don’t tell me that it is against the rules. That much is obvious.

I think they may have lost interest once the mods removed the link to a commercial site.
