Ah…I like modern technology! I’m currently in Dublin airport on another random trip for no real reason other than to be on a plane. My flight over was FR153 from LBA on EI-CSO, the same aircraft I flew here on last Friday! The weather was clear as we left LBA, but as we approached the coast things started to get a little cloudy. In fact I didn’t see anything apart from water vapour until we were around 10 feet above the runway here!
I had hoped to go to my usual spot at the end of Runway 28 and get some photos, but it’s absolutely chucking it down outside, so me and my camera have decided, due to circumstances beyond our control, that we’re gonna stay here in the Skyview Bar!
Anyway, I have 40 minutes until I check in for my return flight, and I’m hoping things are a little more organised than when I checked in for my flight home last week. Until then I’l sit and watch FR 738 after FR 738 take off:)

I remember doing that with Tom (LBARULES) and Matt (Matthew Murray) back in July, watch my face light up as it looks like Hertz is turning on stand but no, I get the same aircraft I got on the way there! :d (EI-COX)
And who got Hertz? :D.
Nice to hear you had a decent day Paul, didnt see EI-CSO approach over Leeds this week even though I was in Leeds!
As Elgan says, See ya Thursday!

I got EI-DAR a couple of weeks ago! I quite like the yellow interior – it’s better than going on a dark and dull plane

Just arrived home. The flight back was on EI-DAR, a 738, although during his first PA announcement just after boarding was complete, the captain said “please give the cabin crew your full attention as they talk you through the safety features of this Boeing 737-200 series aircraft”. I guess our captain until very recently may have spent his working days flying one of my favourite aircraft!
I have to say, on first sight the bright yellow interior of the newer 738’s looks a little ‘in your face’, but with the cabin lights dimmed there’s something very peaceful about it. It’s a shame they didn’t stay dimmed for the entire flight. I really enjoyed the flight back, but for no particular reason. It was just a good flight. A little turbulent, which I like, yet very relaxing, but then again I always like flying at night. Actually there probably were reasons for me enjoying it, and it probably had something to do with spending the previous 4 hours in the bar and watching a Bill Bailey DVD on the way back while consuming a couple of cans of Amstel!
It’s a shame I didn’t manage to get any photos. The approach to Runway 28 is one of my favourite ‘easy to get to’ photo spots, but there’s always the two trips to DUB I have in February for that!
Anyway, I need to rest and try…Err…Sober up a little:)

i think that’s cos your plane comes in from either Aberdeen, Manchester or Gatwick I think and they’re all delayed by about 45 minutes.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. I’m now sat at gate A4 waiting for our plane to turn up. Great fun!

That’s no way to treat an Ernie Ball ! Fortunately you can hammer in nails with my two Fenders. 😀
Tell me about it! Luckily the Stingray was designed by Mr. Fender, so it was pretty tough too. Still annoyed me though!
My main bass now is another Leo Fender design, a USA G&L L2500, my other two most used basses are a Fender Sting Signature Precision and a Fender Jazz 5 string fretless. They’re all tough as hell but I’m always weary when baggage handlers get anywhere near them!
My flight home has been delayed! We’re looking at a 16:00 departure now instead of 15:10. Ah well…Back to the bar!

I don’t get on with baggage handlers. A few years ago I was playing some gigs with a band in Portugal, and boarding a flight at LIS heading to BRU, looking through the window at the gate I saw the way they treated by beloved Musicman Stingray 5 bass. I was not impressed!

An FR 738 has just pulled up 30 metres in front of me. It’s quite interesting watching the ground crews jump straight into action. Here come the baggage handlers, throwing things around as usual.

Anyway, we should be boarding in 10 minutes. Yates’s at LBA here I come!

Yeah I had to take my shoes off the last two times at DUB security. I think the first time was a random check, last week we all had to do it. So I assume it’s a permanent part of the procedure now, especially as it’s the same security gates that do the US flights as well.

Why it feels like just the other week since I was sat in DUB using the wi-fi service??? 😀
That’s what prompted me to make this post 🙂
Sat in departures now. Check in was much easier than last time (luckily), but what is the obsession here with having to take your shoes off at security? I can’t remember having to do that at any other airport!
Elgan…Yeah see you Thursday. Should be good!
Future Pilot…I flew on the Hertz and Vodafone 732 logojets, so a 738 logo would be nice!
