If you are alien to the USA you will need a TSA clearance for which you have to register on their website. You can only do this once you have chosen your flight school as they have to attest to your enrollment, and usually it is them who pay the fee.

Before we can help, we need more information….
What is the purpose of your training? ATP? PPL?
Where are you from?
How long do you have for your training?
What are your educational qualifications (i.e. are you eligible to attend a 4 year university with an aviation program? That’s a very good way to get aviation training at a reasonable cost).
How much are you willing to spend?
Those simple questions will dictate the proper school for you.

@ orya, you will probably find that since 9/11 that things have tightened up quite a bit and you may find that you might have to jump through a lot of procedures now.

This is hour building but may help
I would avoid paying upfront for a course in total and I would pay on a credit card then if anything goes wrong you can claim back off the card
Hope that helps.

The Flying Podcast – easily downloadable had two or three good podcasts on US clubs, at which UK pilots had learned to fly, last year. Lots of detail on costs, facilities etc…
