Hello Board Members,

small chance I can help – haven’t the slightest idea what an Akratork rig is though!

Akratork rig it’s for checking/adjusting torque wrenches. I have a number of torque wrenches that have no scale but need to be checked. I did bid on a number of lots and got the lot.

After a trawl through my discs I found some not so bad examples from my early experiments with the heath robinson type sight I was explaining about to Mike Curril. :eek::rolleyes::confused:

Well they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating and in this case the proof is positive. That has proven to me without a doubt that it works so I’ll definitely be trying it for myself.

Thanks for vote of confidence on the pic side of things but the Canberra is a common a garden P.R.9 whos life began in prototype form from a converted P.R.7 which was WH 793 first flight July 1955.P.R9s with the registration starting from XH129 were built by Harlands and Short in Belfast so “XH134” fell in this group.
I recently found out the offset cockpit arrangement was devised and concluded upon in that it being easier to design and fit this type rather than upset the whole mechanism of the centraly based flight steering system.Hope you have’nt fallen asleep yet Steve but sometimes I find it interesting to spout a couple of facts as I’ve only just found out about this on the P.R.9 and I’m not really a technocrat(my hobby being photography).:).
Well its back to the Easter celebrations.:rolleyes::)

I have owned a fair few bridge style cameras now, and shutter lag varies greatly but the newer ones are must better.
I used to technique of taking the shot just before the aircraft was totally in the frame, Then most of the time the aircraft was in frame by time the picture was taken.
It did not always work but did get some nice photos, Also i aimed at more take off and landing shots if doing jets as was easier to catch them then.

Ironically when i got my DSLR last spring it took time to learn not to do the same thing and I did at first get a lot of half in frame aircraft for a bit, I am getting better now though 😀 .

I had a similar problem with a three megapic Canon and solved the panning and click moment with a piece of plastic pipe and some bluetac.Cut a small piece of plastic piping more then a 1/4 inch wide and about 1/2 an inch long.Put a small amount of bluetac on your camera at the top of the camera away from the pop up flash and tack the small piece of pipe on the bluetac and you have created a basic sighting method.
Next just zero in the sight with a couple of shots in the garden and youll be able to still track an aircraft in the sight while the shutter lag takes place but youll still have been able to track the plane at that all important moment up until you click.I practised this a couple of times on passing cars.It does work and if youve got a slight problem with the spondolix and you cant purchase a DSLR it will at least keep you going till you can.:);):rolleyes:I used a piece of an old biro as my sight.

What a wonderfully simple system. Dumb fool that I am I’d never thought of that. With my length of army service and experience of experimenting with sighting methods you would have thought I’d be clever enough to have worked that pout for myself. Obviously too thick:D
