Help – Cockpit parts required

Can anyone help me with locating a 5C/1747 undercarriage indicator switch and a 5c/715 (or 5c/1252) magneto switch guard for use in a instrument panel restoration project? This is my first thread so please bear with me. many thanks in advance.

Hi all,

further to all of the kind offers of help re the Stirling U/C indicator switch….I now have one albeit one that will require a small modification to make it look like the real McCoy.

Gents,

Further to all the kind offers of help and advice, on investigating further I believe I may have another approach to the u/c indicator problem. Having studied contemporary photos, I believe that a 5c/1600 switch may do the trick with a bit of modification. Has anyone got any leads on one of these?

best regards

John

Might have to bite the bullet and comprimise..

Get some good pics and measurements and hoik them over to Dave who is doing the Spit V cockpit section. He does brilliant repro bits of panel bits and pieces.Tell him I sent you and offer him an ale.:D

From what I have seen on your site the instrument panel really looks the part.

Yep, that’s the cookie. I haven’t got the u/c master switch and any info on sect/ref part no would be very much appreciated. If anyone has a close up of it that I could use to make a facsimile that too would be of great help.

thanks for everyones kind offers and advice so far.

This is the part 12jaguar is looking for.

I’ve never seen one in over thirty years of collecting this stuff, so I think it’s going to be a long search.

I checked AirSam’s catalogue, and they do not have it listed.

Still, it’s nice to think there may be one sat on a shelf somewhere, perhaps this thread will uncover it!

Does this mean you’ve found the correct undercarriage indicator and undercarriage master switch, they’re both rarer than hen’s teeth too?

Cees,

This panel is the one for the Stirling project and is a re-production. I’m not sure it is 100% accurate but is beginning to look the part. I intend to mount it in conjunction with our restored throttle box and hopefully will be able to take it to Newark in time for the cockpit fest. I’ll post pictures of it in due course.

Interesting project.

Is this a true restoration project or a reproduction one? As far as I know there are no drawings for the Stirling instrument panel. I believe the Stirling Project used an original one as a template.
Any pics for in Peters instrument panel thread?
Cheers

We will try our best to find them for you Jag.

Myself and PhantomPhixer are pretty good at sourcing aircraft parts but I will admit Sterlings are not every day items so it may take a while.

We’ll add it to our list of other parts we’re waiting for. If you can PM me with a picture of some sort it will help;)

Peter,
Thanks, MILRECS have a similar item, but I’m trying to get a pukka one first. And yes Richie it is I.
