Help Id Aircraft and Place thaxs

Hi All,

Got this along with some other stuff at an auction.

Could anyone tell me the place and who owned the aircraft and the ids of said planes.

This is what I think

Location seems to be Duxford

I know that their is a T-6G, DH Rapid, two Magistrys the aircraft behind the T-6 is that a Miles and if so what type. The aircraft with the Jap markings appears to be a Morane-Saulnier.

G-AIDL still going strong (and keeping good company 🙂 )

Also, quite an easy ‘guess the airfield’, if a clue is necessary, think between Duxford and Baginton…..

Here is a potted history of G-AIDL, excuse the scribbles etc…

There has been talk recently about re-instating the ‘Wanderer’ name, and maybe giving her a new paint scheme…

I think the T-6 is G-AZJD.

There’s a photo of it here http://homepages.mcb.net/bones/1971.htm taken in 1975. It had lost the stripes on the rudder by 1984 when I photographed it.

The question is between what dates did it have the stripes on the rudder?

The van should help to date it too.

It’s a Series 1 Transit – late sixties built.

Pretty much extinct after the early 80’s, so my guess is the photo was taken sometime in the mid to late 70’s……???

See this recent thread, G-AIDL is the white/silver Rapide, still looked after at Coventry.

http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=37095

I have a pretty comprehensive history of its owners, activities somewhere, bear with me…..

Are there any other pictures of ‘DL or this event, which does look a lot like the big concrete aprons at Culdrose, possibly…

That T-6 is bugging me! I’ve got a feeling I’ve seen it somewhere, or something like it?

BTW I came across this website whilst looking for 80s British T-6s. Loads of UK airshows photos from the 70s & 80s, a mixture of jets and a few prop driven nuggets. http://www.rob.clubkawasaki.com/photoindex.htm

Hmmm.

Should be a cinch from internal evidence. G-AIDL, the Rapide is now with Air Atlantique in Coventry. It’s not in those colours though. I flew in it in these or similar colours when it was based at Biggin Hill joyriding before going to Carnarfon Air World in the 80s(?) – I vaguely recall the flight I had was late 70s early 80s. The ONLY Eindekker replica in Britain was the PPS one – based at Booker, as Uncle Melvis sa. But TWO Proctors? Hmmm.

Am sure it’s not Duxford.

Could it be a helicopter base (looking at the circles on the runway)?

The van should help to date it too.

Runway looks a little close to be Duxford. The Miles is a Messenger, the Magisters are Pervival Proctors but the look of them and the Morane is the Fokker EIII replica from Personal Plane Services.
