DONATION ACCOUNT

Hi All,

Well today we have great news to announce that the donation account is now up and running on the website http://www.savethetrident.org/ for the movement and restoration of Hawker Siddley Trident 1c G-ARPO. We need to raise £14,000 initially to cover the cost to dismantle and move her to the North East Aircraft Museum in Sunderland from which she will then be restored for public view. All donation monies will be spent wisely with thought out decisions and good planning and corruption free. All donors wil be entered on the roll of honour with the trident at the museum and invited to the opening ceremony when we first open her to the public officially. We are anticipating moving the trident around october this year so we can start work on her but will need to have the finances in place to achieve this first stage. We would appreciate all donations large or small and would like to thankyou for all your support on this great day for our british heritage.
regards tony jarrett and the save the trident team

45 Years Ago Today!

G-ARPO made her first flight 45 years ago today, on 13 January 1965 at Hatfield. Fantastic achievement that she’s still around and in one piece. Let’s restore her so she’s around for many more years to come!

cockpit

we had some imformation received today that most of the instrumentation of the cockpit and engineers area has now been kindly donated to the trident. This is fantastic news as this area of the plane obviously is a major crowd pleaser and a big hurdle we have crossed…………Since the donation account started a week and a half ago we have had a good start to our target . Please keep up this good work as it is down to all you ethusiasts to make this happen. we cant do it without this funding . We would very much like to thank everyone who has donated already,…..cheers tony

There was today a quite lenthy read with photo on Trident G-ARPO and what we are doing in the Northern Echo

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/4879660.Move_to_save____last_of_its_kind____plane/

Hopefully more people will want to save the aircraft with a donation and they can say they were part of that. I am sure there will be a sense of satisfaction when its done, its getting there

Runway06 it’s quite a simple answer really….the reason behind it was for commonality with Boeing equipment..thus PIA and Iraqi airways had the same horse shoe control’s as CAAC…..that’s it really..

(quick edit as i forgot that CAAC bought the PIA aircraft which had the horse shoe controls) this was prior to the order for 33 Trident 2E’s for HSA.

Hope this answers your question..:D

belfast

A great day at Belfast

Matt and myself went to Belfast International Airport Friday to meet the fire department and to view the Trident 2 aircraft. We had a fantastic time and would like to thank Mark ,Wayne and Robert and everybody who at the airport station who made it such a memorable day.
The Trident 2 there has many items on board and outside which will really help with the restoration of our Trident. As Neil says , Neil drew up a parts list to take with us to give in of which was done and we found many of the items still on there Trident.
We are hoping to return back in april to remove these parts and bring them back to Sunderland awaiting the tridents arrival.
Anyone who can help with transportation from belfast to sunderland we would very much appreciate it,

Just for the record . No money that has been donated was used for this trip as matt and myself paid for ourselves . So if you would like to donate you can feel confident that your money goes straight to the restoration of the trident .
regards to all

The plan is for the aircraft to be in the yellow colours of Northeast Airlines which operated Tridents from Newcastle. Although this is not a scheme worn by G-ARPO the other schemes are already represented on other aircraft at Duxford and Manchester.
