Help needed to identify Blenheim part

I have in my posession an intriguing find from a Blenheim 1f crash site.
It strikes me as some form of wipe clean scribbling pad contained within a hinged aluminium cover. The insert is made from some strange plastic/bakalite material and seems to have some pencil scribblings on it. It is held in its ‘cover’ by what seems to be a leather strap. On the outside of the cover/case there is black stencilling…can’t make all letters out, something like

W_ITING R_???

_ONTA_

Fill in the blanks lol! I was thinking ‘WAITING RADIO CONTACT’. Anyone have any idea what this is?! Many thanks in advance

Bob

Smudge, thanks for your input!
R.e the large piece, what you say does tie in…in the same area I’ve found a sear release (if u remember!) from an MG which presumably means it’s from a multi-gun arrangement, and some ammo (.303)
I look forward to your further findings!

Blenheim Parts

Positive on the map case, I`ve just put exactly the same type in for painting prior to refitting. Every one is right re the light series bomb steady and battery terminal.
The large item is stumping us at the moment, its not a standard part of the aircraft and we`re leaning towards it being part of the bomb bay gun pack, so will have to get the books out to try and confirm.

We`ll keep trying

No – one go any ideas? I was thinking that something that substantial had to be from engine mounting maybe? Or main bomb bay?

Hi Bob,

That second part (AD10415/1) might well be one of the rear crutches of a Light Series Bomb Carrier. Attaching a (smallish) image of one – looks like you have part of the adjusting wingnut on the side too.

Cheers,

Walter

Hi Mantog

The first part is a battery terminal. The second part is a bomb steady from a light series bomb carrier (a small type of bomb rack). There’s a pic here on a site that strangely enough deals with Blenheims: http://users.cyberone.com.au/clardo/blenheim_armament.html.

Cpl more bits..

First one is presumably a battery terminal of some sort?

When I disassembled it, there was still grease on the parts as u can see in 2nd pic

Ah! yes, it’s a P not an R, well spotted! Can’t seem to find any reference of a Writing Pad Container on the web, does anyone have a picture of what one looks like, that hasn’t been mangled?!
