Help needed to identify these parts

I picked these bits up a couple of months ago, along with some Hurricane etc bits.

1. Is some kind of control lever shield, part number 57. G. 999 “Might be Hallifax ?”.

2. Looks like some kind of instrument mounting plate, it has- STARTER RELAY. FUSE 10 AMPS etched on it, & JM H in a circle stamped on it.

3. Looks like some kind of hinge that would have been bolted to a wooden member, has 124F. & LM F in a shield on it.

4. Is numbered 5c1581 & has 898 in a circle stamped on it.

Any ideas please.

The second photo down is the engine start panel from a Phantom. The bottom IFF/SSR panel is also common to Phantom amongst others.

You have a project for which you need parts but you don’t know what they are or what aircraft they are for? How’s that exactly?

Hi Bob,

Thanks, the centre section is where we have the greatest gaps.
Hope you are right about the Henley.

Hi Geoff

I seem to remember reading somewhere, that a lot of the basic Hurricane structure was the same as that on the Henley. I’ll know more if/when I obtain the spares schedules.

I will keep you guy’s in mind when I know what I am doing with the bits.

Hi Bob,

Something tells me very little of the forward fuselage frame would be the same, if any of it. I imgine any attempt on a Henley would involve starting from scratch in that area. A long way to go with the Hurricane, although much will come together relatively quickly, so keep us in mind with the parts if and when they start to take up too much space.

Hi Anne

Unfortunately the 57 is very clearly stamped on it, so no matter how hard I squint at it, it still looks like 57 lol.

Bob T.

It would have helped if I’d looked at the number for the right hand hindge fairing (57 G.999) instead of the left hand fairing (55 G.999).

Anson it is.

Hi Geoff

I have seen the Henley outer wing section a number of times, & every time I see it, I think that some one should have a go at building a complete one.
I have thought about obtaining a copy of the Henley spares schedule, to see what forward fuselage etc parts, are the same as those used on the Hurricane, but have yet to do so. I am not too sure what I am going to do with the few Hurricane bits I have, they are not taking up much space at the moment, so I probably won’t be passing them on just yet.

If you have a second look at the first item and can make it into 55 G.999, then you’ll have a bit of an Avro Anson elevator which it is a dead ringer for.

Hi Bob,

Not much to see that looks like a Hurricane at the moment on display, so you didn’t really miss out. Most of the on-going work is taking place off-site. What can be seen in the main hangar is the frame of the rear fuselage which was put together using wooden struts to test fit all the joint units that had been straightened – all except two are from the original Hurricane. As they are stainless steel the structure has been left in situ as a display item (together with just a few original struts and straightened bracing wires) with no worries about corrosion setting in – even though it is undercover!
The aim is to keep to the original bits from that machine rather than replacing with new or other Hurricane’s cast-offs. But if the original parts just don’t exist then we have to go elsewhere. If you are likely to be moving on your pieces, please pm photos of what might be moving.

Henley, now there’s a challenge. Half a wing lies at the far end of the main hangar, along with most of the ‘original’ skinning from the outer wings of LF363

Hi Geoff

I acquired a number of Hurricane parts, mainly small odds & soddits, the largest bit is from the centre section.
I had thought about starting another Hurricane project “or Henley cockpit section if I could obtain the drawings”, but now that is unlikely to happen because I have recently lost my main workshop space.

How is the Hurricane comming along ?, I had hoped to see it when I was last there, but didn’t get time as the museum was just about to shut when I arrived.

I’m afraid I cannot help with the parts in the photos, but being being involved with a Hurricane fuselage build at the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum, can I be nosey and ask what the Hurricane bits were?
