Help On Buying A New Camera!

hi,

well with my birthday coming up and i want this year a decent camera, the camera i have at the moment is just a normal digital camera a Fujifilm Finepix 1400 zoom, (very rubbish!) which ive had for about 4 years as i never been interested in the planespotting side of aviation just the flying and piloting side, but now id like to get a new one, you see the problem with the one i currently have is that when i send them to websites (upload) they are to ‘grainy’ id like advice on a camera, for example not grainy etc.. good zoom, n quailty

Can You Help

Jon

BTW this is 1 of the pics with my Fujifilm camera just for an example! Mind the fence its just an example, just to show u the rubbishness of my pics lol!

Seem to be a bit late as you now have the new Kodak.
There seems a lot 300ds on the 2nd hand market and it will take the same pic as most of the more expensive models . so for around £200-250 they are a very good starter camera .i still use one 3 years old and 60,000+ shots later its still going fine .

R.e buying new camera

If you can pick up the predecessor to the Canon 350D, the 300D, cheap on ebay I’d reccomend that. All you need then is a 75-300mm zoom and you’re of!

I’m still using my 300D and no plans to replace it. I’m no expert but I’m getting the sort of pics I wanted

Hi John. If your going to go for this type of camera then don`t be fooled by the Digital Zoom It may well be 5x but all that will do is zoom in on the photo making it more grainy than the camera you already have. So just go for one that has the best Optical zoom you can get for your buget. take a look at a Konica Z5 it has a 12x optical zoom. But with these type of camreas you will get lag inbetween shots so if you can try and go for a DSLR it been posted on here before but it will save you money in the long run. Hope this is of some help to you.

yer thanks very much there!

cheers

Ok,

5x Digtal Zoom
10x Optical Zoom
5.36 Megapixels

I am very sure this will give me fantastic quality?, but ill run it through you!

Thanks Jon

Do NOT buy a kiddie-cam… you will just end up in the same situation again later. Save up first, and buy a Digital SLR, something like a Canon 350D or a Nikon D50 which will last for years and years. Take it from someone who’s experienced the pain in the past, selling yourself short now will only cost you more in the long run.

Not sure how much your budget is, but mine is low. I recently got a Nikon Coolpix S1 from eBay. It’s an alright camera, and got it for £102, but it’s usually for around £120.

Hi,
About a year ago i bought a Brand new Canon eos 10d. It’s a great camera and i am very pleased with it. Ive seen them on ebay second hand for about £400, but they are increasingly hard to get hold of. I havent heard of any owners of this model who have anything bad to say about it.
See some of my photo’s taken on this camera on www.onebigworld.fotopic.net but please bear in mind i have only been taking airshow photo’s for around a year and only been to 4 airshows. that aside they should give you a fair idea.
Dean 🙂

No matter what your budget the best bit of advice I’ve been given is to go for the best optical lens.

The Fuji S5500 has a 10X (approx 70 -300mm) optical zoom and is pretty good for static pics, the flying are a bit poor however coz of the shutter lag and its a bit rough when zoomed out to 300 but 1000% better than any digital zoom!

As others I have out grown the S5500 and now have a 350D as well. the example pix are a Mosquito (S5500) Beech staggerwing (Canon 350D)

just my 2 Euro worth

I’ve been using an Olympus C-740UZ for a few years now. It’s got 10X optical zoom, and works pretty well. Click on the link in my signature to see some of my photos, they were all taken with the aforementioned camera.

Might upgrade to a digital SLR though, anybody know of a good one that won’t detonate my bank account?

I’ve also had a 350D for about a month,my first foray into digital photography, and even for a heathen such as I,it is a great piece of kit, even if you use it on full auto ;)These 2 pictures have been reduced in size only, that is not played around with a photo editor.Just a couple of snaps taken on auto.

Well it all depends on how much you can spend….
Recently, i bought a Canon 350D for £640 which included lenses and memory cards etc.
The quality is just stunning out of it! Before i got that, i had a Fuji S5000 which is pretty tacky to what i have no (Plus it always used to have a lot of grain and noise in the shots)

There are plenty of other cameras out there if you are not ready to step upto the DSLR region, shop around and see what takes your fancy
