I am currently detached from my beloved copy of ‘British Secret Projects: Jet Fighters since 1950.’ and for the life of me I can not remember what engine was intended for the Vickers Type-583. For those of you who dont know it was offered at about the same time as the P.1154 and was intended as a Mach 2.5 fighter/bomber. Anyway I can not remember what power plant was intended for it, if anybody knows please let me know!
Thanks is advance sealordlawrence.

The research aircraft would have Avon engines but in service the RB.153/61 then under development for Germany would be substituted.
Thanks T-21!;)
But would that not leave it rather under powered? I thought that the RB.153 was a scaled down spey with only about 7000lb of thrust. After burning Avons were turning out nearyl 17,000lb by this time and RR had proposed the Thames as a direct replacement. I thought the 583 was a pretty large aircraft?
