Hello all,
I am reaching Rome on 28th May and would like to do Rome-Florence-Venice by train.
Has anyone done this before? What trains should i be looking at? Any particular website that can let me plan this out?
Thanks in advance. 🙂

Concur.
I did Rome to Venice on a clean/comfy/efficient/new/on time train. Cost was reasonable too.
I then came to London from Venice on the VSOE…now that was real train travelling!
Only those African ones (Rovos Rail) can beat it….they have a bath in your room on board! They also operate luxury fitted DC3’s and 4’s for flights over the Vicky falls etc.

Hmm i will do some research on this tomorrow. I have found a few trains… some taking 90 mins from Rome to Florence some taking 2 hours. I just have to choose the right ones.

Kabir, from memory the plan is good and most European countries have railways that are efficient, punctual and usually faster than trying to drive the same route. I can’t help with a website to help with the trip planning but I would have thought that any Italian tourism website would have something of use. As an example of my point about trains being faster than driving the German railways will serve. When I was in Germany we lived halfway between Herford and Bielefeld. The train journey from one to the other was quicker than driving to either from where we lived (15 minutes against about 30-35). Most of Europe’s railways are as good (except ours, trains dirty, late or cancelled without explanation). At least in the rest of Europe they explain why the train is late and it’s always a good reason unlike our leaves on the line or the wrong sort of snow (no kidding, they’ve used both of those in the last 20 years)
