Hello all. A long time since I’ve posted, but in need of some help and this is the best forum to ask…
Recently acquired this artifact. Was told it’s an internal (Bomb Bay?) door (/door frame) from a B-26.
Recovered (apparently) by a local shortly after the war in Northern France.
Does anybody out there have a parts manual where I can try and cross reference some of the parts numbers stamped on the ‘hinges’? Or does somebody have the numerical range used for Martin Marauder parts?
or better still…anybody got a photo of this part in the airframe?
… or is it from a completely different aircraft?
Cheers in advance…

I was looking through the Avialogs parts list last evening for the C47 and it was using 211 part numbers ( amongst others). If you want to do some sleuthing going through their lists of ETO Douglas aircraft parts list may give you some success. At the end of parts catalogues it sometimes has a numerical list of parts used y part number. I have found this useful in identifying parts but takes time. You can also download them as PDF’s ( if you are a subscriber) which are then searchable by part number using search box in top RHS.
I have identified B17, B24 parts in this way and now C47.
Otherwise as Elliot says post on WIX.

For IDing an American aircraft part I recommend trying the WIX forum

Aha! That would make sense…perhaps A-26 then (often confused with Maruader due to one type’s retirement and the other taking the B-26 designation. I have an A-26 parts manual (PDF)… now to explore! Appreciate your help…cheers

The D inked inspectors stamp in the last image says it was a Douglas made part.
I read it as 212 part number which does not fit with the B26 which should be 412 or 512..

No (visible) parts numbers on the frame, but found these on the ‘hinges’

Certainly looks like a piece of American aircraft. Post the part numbers. It will help a lot!
