Help to ID aircraft part data plate please

Hi,
a member of a military history related forum is seeking information on this WW2 data plate found in Belgium.
There were a few British and american aircraft that came down in the area that this came from.
He wants to know if it is from a US or British built aircraft and what type it might be from (the last might be a bit of a tall order).

Cheers & thanks for any help you can give in advance,

– John

No, sorry mate, have not been up into that area for a long time, drive past it every now and then but have the family with me every time in the rush to get to the family cabin on a friday night.

The Lancaster type number is 683. R3 is an Avro stamp, so two clues!

Have you found any more Whitley parts? 😎

Thanks Elliott & Peter,

what number tells you that it’s from a Lancaster (I only know about S25 for Sunderlands:)

Cheers, John
