Thanks again folks for all your help. I’ll be back for more when I have chance, which probably won’t be for about 10 days as I’m working 14 hours a day every day this week then I’m away for 5 days.

mike,
my info re-VF512 was taken from an Air-Britain civil register book for 2002….as G-ARRX it is listed as an Auster 6A,but in the civ/mil cross reference section it is listed as an Auster AOP6…..either wat it is listed as being based at Popham in the markings of 43 OTU.
I note you also mention Tiger Moth K4259/G-ANMO…..this is based at White Waltham,but owned by a very good mate of mine who lives in the Didcot area,and is a member of my own Oxfordshire Aviation Group….
Any more queries,will be only too glad to try to help!!!!!!!

Oh come on Flood, I find it hard enough to find a chance to get at the computer as it is, without trawling through websites for that information. I thought you would have figured that out by now considering how long some of my absences are.

Don’t you think that it’s time that you asked Santa to bring you a copy of ‘Every Boy’s Book of Military Aircraft Markings’, Mike? Or maybe ‘Wrecks & Relics’? 😉

Or even Ian Allan ABC’s Military Aircraft Markings (plus Civil Aircraft Markings!) which I used for most of my initial searching (admittedly using copies that are 9 years old…).
Probably find some of the info on the net, too!

Thanks Flood & Mike J. No need for new keyboard, found out it was fingertrouble on the part of the user. 😀 Mike, why should I ask Santa for either of those when my birthday is closer. Anyway if I resort to using either of those publications I’d be depriving you guys of another opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge. My thanks to you both for the info. Box Brownie, that must have been a labour of love, not the sort of thing that can be finished quickly. Looking at her now though, I have to say the results are vindication of your hard work and time.

18013 = G-TRIC
HG691 = G-AIYR
WP859 = G-BXCP
WV507 was a Provost T1 that was w/o 26/10/54 – WZ507 became G-VTII
K4254 = G-APVT, K4259 = G-ANMO – all the others in this series went out of service without further registrations being involved…
TA+RC = G-BPHZ
G-MSTG might be Janie…
BBD? Isn’t that 44-73979 masquerading as ‘472218’ in IWM South Lambeth?

VF512 I have (Air Britains RAF Aircraft SA100-VZ999) as 661, 663 Sqns, sold 4/5/60 to G-ARRX. Could it just be that the guy who owns it likes the scheme and the code?

Better get a new keyboard, Mike!

Many thanks guys, you’re wizards. May I impose upon you for a few more please?
M-S Criquet? Fiesler Storch T+RC
Dragon Rapide HG691
Chipmunks WP859 & RCAF 18013
Tiger Moth K425? (has the code 71 on the fuselage)
Vampire WV507
Mustangs:- Janie & BBD

If you don’t mind indulging me I may be back with a few more later as I have a lot of photos of warbirds where I have the military markings noted, but no cross reference to their civil identities. You are correct OAG, VP512 is PF-M I got it wrong(dyslexic keyboard again). I have to disagree about the AOP 6 bit though. Training bands and dual controls would make it a T7 or, if converted to dual control from an original AOP6, it would be a T10. Or was used as a liaison aircaft and not fitted with dual controls?

MIKE,
“VP512” could well be VF512/PF-M,an Auster AOP6 with a civil registration of G-ARRX,
hope this helps

XW635 reverted to G-AWSW 19/4/89
VR259 SOC 27/11/57, to G-APJB
XR240 is G-BDFH
XN441 is G-BGKT
VP512 was with the Air Attache in Belgrade as G-AKFE from 9/47-4/56 – but was an Anson C.19, not an Auster. Have you got the correct registration?

The Terrier is G-AWSW I think, and the Prectice G-APJB.
