Help.. What Aircraft is this at Liverpool?

While i was at LPL on Friday, i saw a rather old, dirty looking plane, I think it was painted up as Air Atlanta or Atlantica ?? with a green ish colour scheme,

I thought it looked like some old wreck which had not moved for years.. however upon my return into LPL it was facing the other way and in a different postion and had some stairs attachted?

It could also be seen from if you look at LPL front Terminal and walk “right” towards the long stay car park 2, you can see it clearly through the fence next to the roundabout..??

Is this still flying?? i just wanted to know what its there for as it most be knocking on some!!

Hi Darren,

The BRS/NWI crossover operated up until about 2004 when Emerald last ran the route on the SH36 – It was ditched when the mail wanted to run down the containerised jet operation route.

The Kinloss has also been split into ABZ-EDI-FSS and ABZ-EMA-FSS, and has been run by a variety of SH36 operators over the years – BAC, Emerald, Benair, Aerocondor – and it’s back with BAC again!

The above list of mail routes brings back bad memories…lol

Business Air (GNT) used to operate the following many moons ago on the SF340.

ABZ-EDI-EMA-EDI
EDI-STN-EDI
NWI-STN-BRS-STN-NWI
ABZ-EDI-EMA-EDI-FSS (AKA the Kinloss Killer by the crews)
EMA-BFS-EMA

Does the NWI-STN-BRS run still operate?

Sorry Mr EGNM :diablo:

Main UK mail bases are Edinburgh, East Midlands and Stansted, with feeder bases at Bournemouth, Bristol/Filton (while the BRS runway gets resurfaced), Newcastle, Aberdeen and Exeter.

Jet2 and Titan do the majority of the work…

EXS1A/1B/1C/1D BFS-EMA-BFS-EMA-BFS (B733)
EXS4E/4F EDI-EMA-EDI (B733)
EXS5G/5H EXT-EMA-EXT (B733)
EXS8B/8C NCL-STN-NCL (B733)
EXS9G/9H EDI-STN-EDI (L188, returns to B733 in the summer!?)
EXS11L/11M STN-EDI-STN (B733)
EXS12A/12B EDI-EMA-EDI (B733)
AWC10J/10K EDI-STN-EDI (B733)
AWC13N/13R BOH-EMA-BOH (B733)
AWC21A/21B/21C/21D STN-BFS-STN-BFS-STN (B733)
AWC32E/32Y STN-EXT-STN (B462)
AWC63F/74G EDI-FZO-EDI (B462x2)

Also carriers such as BAC Express and Atlantic have some work…
RPX250/251/251P ABZ-EMA-FSS-ABZ (SH36)
RPX950/951P EXT-STN-EXT (SH36)
NPT201/299 FZO-NCL-FZO (FK27x2)
NPT???/???/???/??? IOM-EMA-BFS-EMA-IOM (Magicbird ATP) <— Magicbird have this contract but because they have no AOC they are using Atlantic’s!

There are probably a few mail routes that I have missed, and of course there are all of the TNT, DHL, UPS and FDX routes that run! More info about them if needed! Cheers to Mr EGNM for helping me to understand all of the mail network as well as the rest of the UK stuff!

Hi Rickt again,

What exactly are you looking for? LPL is not longer a mail base, however I may be able to help with previous routes before when – cargo as well as mailers.

A little bit more detail and I might be able to help.

Atlantic rotate the L188s at Liverpool, Sam.

There’s no based aircraft as such.

Certainly correct there Lance, and for info the aircraft operates to LGG on behalf of TNT Monday night through Friday morning. The Friday night and Sat AM routes are usually operated with BAe 146 eqpt, although Tu204, B752 and B733 are also seen occasionally if the Electra falls over or additional capacity is required.

Looking at FBOweb it’s due to arrive into Liverpool from Liege, Belgium at 5am today so im not sure if that’s the only route it does. I think the one that’s based in Liverpool may be G-LOFE but you should ask Lance, he seems to collect reg’s and has also been to Liverpool a few times.

Down here we had G-LOFC and GLOFB on the ground on Monday altough not parked next to each other looked smart with there Ofsprey having a bite on a fish.
I do know that G-LOFC was on a two week check the week before last and that might explain why she is looking good.
I have not seen G-LOFE for a little while she might be comming up for a visit to Coventry shortly for a check and this could explain her being a little tired on the paint front.
Theres freighters do work very hard unless they have to change them due snag they normally operate fixe contract routes so FE might well be on a Liverpool fixed contract.

If it’s that dirty, it aint looked after. Bit like British Railways trains.

Perhaps the CAA could have a look at it…

And I don’t want it flying over me!

Bri

LoL I worked on the railways for 15 yrs, we worked on the basis the dirtier the train the better it was, the more shiny, the more likely to blow up. Basically dirty less time in depot, shiny tooooooooo long in depot. ANyway, and old bird like the Electra in my view looks quite nice dirty, proves shes working hard. Bex

After having a look on airliners i see it gets about a bit…

Thanks for your input so quickly!

Wasn’t this by any chance, was it?

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0863915/M/

If so it was built in 1960 and operates mail flights at night!

HTH,
Sam
