Hi All
I’m wondering if anyone can help me. For many years I have flown on FS2004 on my Dell Dimension 3100C, until last November when for some reason its stopped being able to run FS2004.Anyway I decided that I would get FSX but as my computer is so old it would not run it so I thought I would treat myself to a new PC. Now can anyone recommend a new PC that would be able to run FSX bearing it mind it will only run on Windows XP SP2 or Vista.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it
Chris

Agree with Merry, your swap file might be insufficient if the program just didnt start any more,
buying a USB hard drive and send your movies and storage etc into the USB drive will free up space,
while simultaneously also serve as a backup, should your computer crash.
If/When buying a new computer, notice the seller you want good graphics, as that is always the choke point these days,
so that means a dedicated graphics card for starters.
At least i could have the seller delete the pre-installed vista and instead get good ole winXP on my notebook.
I also strongly recommend getting norton ghost program, and learn how to use it, so you can make a backup mirror when everything works,
and revert to it when you messed up !

Hi Dave
Thanks for replying to my call for help. I never knew that FSX would run on windows 7, so that’s a great help as even though FS2004 is brilliant I thought it would be about time to give FSX a go especially given the quality of add on’s coming down the line like just flight TRISTAR.
Anyway I will let you know how I get on and i’l keep you in mind if I have any questions
cheers Dave

Hi Chris,
The chances of getting a new PC with XP or Vista are nil, it will be pre-loaded with Windows 7 at best or at worst Windows 8.
A few options though, FS2004 doesn’t require a lot of PC ‘power’ to run, have you tried making space on your hard drive?
15% free space absolute minimum is needed, as Windows use the free space on the HHD as memory, I think that might be your problem.
Add extra memory if you can, not cheap as your memory sticks will be obsolete by now. Have you run defrag?
FSX will run on Windows 7 BTW, I would get a PC with W7 and use FSX.
That said I like CFS and the one I think is best is CFS2, newer doesn’t mean better.
If you need any help drop me a line.
Dave.
