Hello All, I am new to the Forum scene so please all bear with me!!
I am also new to the hobby of Scanning and listening mainly for Military Aircraft as I live only a few miles away from RAF Coningsby.
I have purchased a Uniden Bearcat 3500 Scanner and to be honest I am finding it difficult to set up and wondered if anyone out there could give me an “Idiots Guide” to setting it up.
It comes with an Airband System already loaded but the frequencies are too low for the Military so nothing very interesting happens on it.
If I am understanding right, you first have to Load a System and Name it, then load Groups inside the system, I named System one as Air Band and then added a group name of Coningsby and entered all the frequencies used there, next I added a second Group as Waddington and entered their frequencies, I gave each a Quick key to identify ( although that doesn’t seem to work, or at least I haven’t found out how to use it )
Upon first usage, whenever I go to start scanning it scans the initial pre loaded Airband frequencies and all of the Coningsby and Waddington frequencies, whereas I thought it would only scan the Group I had chosen, i.e. Coningsby, my question is, when at one loction or Airbase, can it not be made just to scan for the frequencies in that Group and not scan everything in it. I am worried that when I have added other RAF bases such as Leeming in North Yorkshire and try to scan there when visiting the scanner will still be scanning for Coningsby and Waddington, which of course will be too far away.
I have lots of other questions too but will wait to see if anyone out there has a 3500 and can help Regards Paul
