Help with Part ID

Good afternoon/evening everyone. Long time follower, first time posting.
I’ve always been amazed at the wealth of knowledge out there especially in parts identifying, and therefore I’m in need of your expertise.
I recently purchased at auction a box of aircraft wreckage. There’s no history or any other information, the catalogue just said, ‘Aircraft Wreckage’. Anyway, there’s one bit, a window which if I’m honest I’m not entirely convinced is even aircraft related.
The only numbers that I can find on it are as follows.
HC 2498-11
HC 2498-11A
HC 2498 15
The window measures 17 and a half inches, by 13 inches (at its widest point) The glass doesn’t look to be toughened or armoured. There’s some traces of paint remaining and that’s about it.
So Over to all you experts out there.
Many thanks in advance.
Old Towzer.

I think TT is correct in that it is for the British spec. Harvard IIB but the panel is the fixed part of the two stage amber screening which was used for synthetic night flying training in conjunction with special goggles. When the training was taking place, removable amber screens would be attached to the front screen, the two side and the one overhead panel of the front cockpit to create the night time effect.

My initial thought was it was a removable panel from a North American Harvard canopy. Ive seen one similar to this. Unlike the standard two side panes which detach when a central jettison handle was pulled, some side frames were modified so you could remove one panel and replace it IIRC for photography etc.

I think it was a British mod. I can see the panel clearly, it came in with a load of other Harvard canopy bits.

The first photo – the top of the panel is spot on profile for the Harvard break out strut.

Sorry I havent any photos to help you but thats my best guess

Towzer the numbers dont match with anything normal – neither does the shape.

Looking around – the shape is more like the side window of a humber pig than an aircraft. But I assume it would be heavier.
