Can anyone help to identify the rusty relic below it was found next to the peri track approaching one of the T2 hangars at the former RAF Desborough?

The rear casing of the object is 85mm in diameter & my thumb neatly fits over the holes on the front.

It has been suggested that this looks like a ‘clack’ valve from a flexible aircraft fuel tank, what does everyone think?

That looks the best possibility yet.

Forgot to tell you where I found pic.

could it be part of a vehicle audible warning device ie a Horn ?
Think you could be right roadracer.

Above M/40 is what looks like the object, with a wire or pipe running into it from the side.
Other pics of these trucks don’t have this object on them.

The bent fitting was probably straight before so it could have been a hydraulic fluid reservoir, brake fluid or similar. (part thereof)

There is that bent fitting on the back that could be either a fluid or electrical conduit.
There is also a small peg that must have been to orientate it.

Does it have anything at the back which could have been an electric terminal? Or a hole through which a wire could have passed? How long have the agricultural fields been there? Maybe it is a part from a tractor?

Having picked some of the soil out of it I don’t think it’s a light fitting as you can now see that there is a second set of plug hole strainer shapes about 1cm behind the outer one, there also appears to be a deliberate gap in the ring surrounding it.

From the pictures it doesn’t look like the hole goes through to the back. Looks like it is a surface mount item.

I think Richard gray is closest to the mark.

It could be some like that but it is a very heavy and solid object.
It was found here.

Ok only a guess but could it be an early type of this?
I have searched for a pic of Rear of RAF vehiciles, but can only find pics showing fronts.

It certainly looks like a plug hole but the fitting on the back is too small for that.
