Henstridge on Saturday 26th August

Who is going to Henstridge on Saturday for the “Vintage Wings & Wheels” event? Does anyone know what is going there?

The weather wasnt that good at Henstridge, with quite a strong cross wind. Think that may have put off a lot of people. It wasnt that pleasant when we left Eggesford and only after passing Exeter did things improve.

Seeing that photo of me in the 9, reminds me that I should get my hair cut!! 🙂

Best wishes,

Martin

Sorry did not make it, the weather was not to good at Bodmin and did not clear as promised. The weather report I recieved from Henstridge quoted 22 knots in showers which put me off as the Champ is quite light and much prefers a grass runway.

Henstridge Vintage fly-In

Wemt to the Henstridge Vintage Aircraft & Vehicle Meet today and had a very pleasant day with some Auster surprises! Pleased to meet T6 Flyer and other forumites. Austers included two BEAGLE Terriers, G-ARNO and G-ASZX completely deconverted back to AOP.6s. G-ARNO now as VX113 even had its 1959 Kings Cup Air Race No.36 applied and G-ASZX is back as WJ368. Here are some of my photos including ‘T6 Flyer’ departing in Auster AOP.9 XR240/G-BDFH. Also the very rare Auster J-1A Crofton, G-BVGT, which took 10 years to rebuild. Finally, something you don’t see every day -a Hiller UH-12B, N38763. Surprise appearance by the RNHF Sea Fury to/from Devonport’s Navy Day.

Well….thats mostly green with some rather dark stains that I just dont really want to talk about.

Seriously mode of transport should be an Auster of some description or the Broussard. Just had a look at the forecast (which keeps changing all the time) and well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Remember its the August Bank Holiday and I cant remember a good one!!

See you tomorrow (hopefully)

I’m going in something white and orange. Can you guess whch one…….

I am glad T6flyer is going in something green and brown, because the poor Champ was finding it hard to climb this evening with his heavy frame on board!
