Hep with early gun sight please, Spitfire?

Hello can anyone give me any information on this gun site, i believe it was made by Elliot bros and is an early type Prismatic section, does anyone also know what year / years it was in use? also what type of aircraft? the air Ministry number reads 8B/2358 and serial no x347, MANY THANKS Brad.

Apparently they wasn’t liked by the pilots when testing as it was near on impossible to fly the aircraft as well as put your eye towards the eyepiece of the gyro sight. thus there wasn’t to many of these sights put into production. but the general idea was going in the right direction, then came along the Mk11 gyro sight….

One of the pictures shows it fitted to a Spitfire but I don’t think they were common fit for very long. The Spit usually had the Refelector gunsight I think. I don’t know any facts for sure though.

I think this is a component part of the Gyro Gunsight Mk1 made by Elliots. But I also have pictures showing it as Ref No 7A/1661.
