It appears beyond my comprihension that many of you have taken on the “next Falklands” challenge.
Fair enough I say if cant beat them join them…so ive made my own little scenario. Now it may be unlikely and the some of the facts and predictions I made my be biased and untrue but I tried as hard as I can to do it fear.
So I am giving you freedom of full control ..if you think that info I gave is untrue or you don’t like my prediction…then instead of attacking me and arguing, feal free to change scenario with your own data but try to stick with the general frame.
(again no prizes for guessing the nations)
Here it goes:
The year is 2003 and your little nation after years of conflict and international isolation is back on the good times .In past 10 year all of the republic have declared independence with your nation remaining with the smallest one which turned independent in June 2001.The small province with in your republic though still officially yours is acting independent land & your people frankly have accepted loss. Since then you have formally berried the name previously worn by federation and adopted officially you republic as nation in July 2001. Economy has recovered infrastructure is fixed and army is improving with number of conscript at any time being averagely around 30-35000 with 30000 of professionals (excluding officers)
in case of emergency 18-45 mobilisation of 50% of males can reach 750000 with total mobilisation 2000 000 ,army operates reasonably good hardware. But your airforce is a shame. You no longer have sea and there fore no NAVY.
Your GDP has risen form $5Bn in 99/2000 to $30bn in 2003 with defence budget getting from .7bn To Bn4.5. How ever fixing infrastructure paying army pros have taken most of the budget to date with army modernization and manufacture of domestic arms. The arms embargo has stoped any serious arms import. The fund to AF have mostly meant fixing bases and repairing aircraft… with local company doing full refurbishment of all of your flying planes so they are in good condition (those that survived).
But now the embargo is off. And you are put in charge of all defence forces. Now it becomes YOUR decision what to do. You budget is 4.5bn this year and It Will go up to 5.5bn next.(there will be 1.5 and 2 left for new arms when all cost are paid)
But new president is telling you that situation is worsening in one of the former republic where there are 2.5 million of your people …they also demand independence but are being oppressed by more armed coalition of two other “tribes” helped by west. The uprising is estimate in 2-3 years. The president tells you that the leaders are willing to wait if your state promises help and accepts them as part of one land. They pledge full loyalty of their forces.
The president wants to help and take what is left of their part and integrate it with new land. He also reminds you that there is small 120km long sea strip still contested between you and the other republic that will provide sea exit. He would like to take it but it would meant war with this republic as well though it might anyway start. Also he would like to retake the small province that has separated on the grounds that legally you still own it.
Now the fun part. He has promised on top of your budget(see above) extra 2.5bn for 2005 attack or 7bn for 2007 attack. Your choice.
You have to build army and air force.
Your army:
65000 men inc.30000 pros at any time + 35000 reserves.
