Here we go again…!

BREAKING NEWS: Icelandic airspace has been closed due to the eruption of Grimsvotn volcano, the country’s most active volcano

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13489944

Seems like Mother Nature has us in her sights again…!

No impact on European airspace just yet, but I wonder whether transatlantic flights may be disrupted or not?

Well Mr O’Leary/Ryanair have proved all the scientists wrong again!
Would have been even more dramatic had they entered the danger area, and done it to the forecast time of ash arrival!:D

This may be a stupid question, but does anyone have a vague idea of how long any disruption might last ?
The reason I’m asking is because we’re due to fly home from San Francisco on Thursday.
I’m not too bothered,it’s nice here 😀

He’ll probably claims his roots and put down roots

More likely he’ll climb aboard AF1 and head off Westward beating the ash cloud.

And do G8 by video link.

None of the above, he just left here early and made it over to the UK without a problem ! And they say Red bull gives you wings, Guinness was there a long time before it !

Has anyone wondered what Obama is going to do if Air Force One has to be grounded in Ireland?

I did post this on the 15 April 2011 – EasyJet Trialling Ash Detector

I did post this on the 15 April 2011 – EasyJet Trialling Ash Detector

A detector has been installed on the wing-tip of an EasyJetAirbus A319 (G-EZBG), in place of the left wing-fence as Ash detector team scouts volcanic zones for trial.

I think safety is held in higher regard than a the CL final.

Will be interesting to see where the ash cloud goes but sky news seemed to be fishing for alot of ‘what if’s’ rather than any real facts about where the ash cloud is going.

Just had a though (dangerous I know) but if the reports are right and the Ash Cloud does close our air space by the end of the week and Northen Spain by Thursday or Friday.
What about the CL Final at Wembley could be played to a half empty ground.

All the stories I have read ,say that there will be no impact on air travail , but how can this be true if the ash is bad enough to close there airspace , then if it continues the effect on air travail will be massive.
They have already proved that the ash from last years ash cloud was very corrosive.

The ash from this volcano is a lot heavier than last years eruption so is not expected to travel as far and is not as violent as last years.

Although we are diverting one of our AN124’s to PIK iso going to KEF, now KEF is closed UFN
