Can’t remember where I got this pic from but credit due to whoever it originates from.
Yes the DH88, Beautifull in every curve and even more so in the flesh, One of the very few prop planes that ever made a jet freak like me go weak at the knees.
John.

Here’s an offfering from the “form follows function” school of beauty.
You have to admit there is something to be said for simple functionality…and one is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The Bell 47 is a classic, how many other aircraft that were the first of their type (the 47 received the first Approved Type Certificate for a commercial helicopter in the US) went onto a huge production run over 25 years?
The Bell 47 – Goldfish bowl and Meccano set. perfectly valid as a simple way of building a helicopter 😀

😎
Ah the XB-70. A picture of what might have been. The 337 is the only good looking Cessna since they gave up the round engined ones, oops sorry I forgot the 310. Canadair, I have to agree with the Beaver. More fun than a jet to fly – and it sounds way better.

Hmmm someone mention Avons again, well my choice, surprise surprise, Canberra PR7. To coin a phrase from TV its rather fitting “Avon calling” (Smile please)…….. ok the bit in brackets is my add on but fitting for a flying camera shop. Bex

My Spit Finish
Thank’s so muchly for the feed back guy’s, most interesting 😉 .
Here’s a few Lightning F 6’s for Ya Mate 🙂 , and one for interest sake  , without that horrible bloo*y pregnant look!!! 😀 .
(from Axls)
And here, the Super fast Spit talked about earler in the thread, but NO photo ever turned up.
So I borrowed these from my fast Spit thread, a while back 😎 .
Someone said they would try and colourize it  ,
NOW I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT!!! 😮 😮 .
Thought since a Spitfire started the thread  , it might as well finish it as well :p .
I bet Daz would agree  .
Must crash, melting bad 😮 , ” Gut Nacht ” all 😉
By: dmchadderton - 28th July 2005 at 13:02
Easy …
1. Spitfire (MkII)
2. Hunter
3. The first aeroplane you ever flew (generally not a modern airliner).
4. The first aeroplane you went solo in.
If I was pressed re a modern fighter, there’s nothing to touch the looks of the Gripen.

Of course, not to forget, the beautiful DHC-2 Beaver:
I’ve flown once in the silver beaver.
PS: canadair, the Cessna Skymaster is one of the best-looking cessna’s 😀
By: canadair - 28th July 2005 at 08:17
On the pilot side, what’s it like to go from flying a chunky Radial, to say a modern jet passenger job, Seem’s a lot of you Lucky b*stard’s get a chance to fly all sort’s!! .
Stormbird262
well regards this, can only answer for me, but I started my career on the DHC-2 Beaver on floats, now 22 years later, numerous types, from light twin through small and heavy jets, I fly the B747 200. Jets are fun, but at least in the case of the 74 they go too far, carry too much gas, and end up in places you did`nt want to be in! 8+ hrs in cruise at lvl 350 is not flying!
I guess you never know it till you get there, but for me give me the Beaver any day! far more fun,
( bottom line though is we end up doing this for a combination of money and lifestyle, neither of which floatplanes can really offer.)
funny thing, when I flew little airplanes, all I could think about was big jets, now I fly big jets, all I think about is little airplanes!
grass is always greener though.
Cheers 🙂
