at work today a black fuselage, yellow winged short fuselage VC10 flew into Filton (no really, it DEFINITELY did! ) today, anyone know anything about this, as to me it seems highly unusual!

amazing that these VC-10s are still flying.
A true testament to british engineering.
They aren’t that old (XR807 is from 1966, far younger than any KC-135 for example), and having flown for it’s entire career with the RAF it has logged far less hours than it would have if it served as an airliner. The VC-10 tankers which the RAF bought second hand are a lot more ran down.

Yes its an RAF VC-10- Its in in new coat of Primer paint – will be coloured grey again soon.
It was pictured last week at Cambridge… its due to get the rest of the paint job at Filton.
Looks neat though! 🙂 – I.D is XR807.

perhaps in for some modifications? Or flight tests?
