Just to keep you all updated HHA flew our first flights this year at Scampton on Monday 23rd. It was the culmination of a training weekend for the HHA team which involved ground training and authorisation of pilots and ground personnel to carry out pre and post flight servicings on the Hunters including all the replenishments and gases etc. We also had a meeting to discuss lessons learn from last year by ourselves and examined in detail any incidents from other operators around the world to ensure that our safety could not be compromised through similar practices or operations.
Six sorties were planned for Louis and BH on Monday with the first being General Handling and famil. The second was for each to carry out Display practice and DA with the third being a little formation work followed by some dog fight simulation. I have to congrtaulate the guys on their perfomance the displays were excellent and the formation work was precise and graceful. The last sortie ended with a tale chase dogfight in the overhead of Scampton. The day was attended by “Flypasts” own deputy editor Jarrod Cotter who took lots of pictures and chatted to all the team, so hopefully we will see something in the magazine in the near future.
My team worked hard to get the aircraft ready in time for this target day and we were rewarded by the flying demonstrations of our pilots. If you were lucky enough to be nearby and managed to see our aircraft flying I think you were treated to a fine exhibition.
