Hi, im new

Hi im new to this board, so I won’t go on to much, firstly I had my first solo on 23/11/03 in a pa-28 and im writing to say Im a student.

I have been looking at some very nice jobs available to NPPLS/PPLS and upwards, I have just found a job flying skydives up to 12,000ft in a c182, pay is based on ground operations, and flying is for free. There are many jobs one can do full time on a PPL and you can spend most of your time flying, except your just paid for the other odd jobs, but the pay makes up for the free flying.

I don’t have the medical to do a CPL, but it will not stop me flying and making a living from ground work. AND FLYING FOR THE FUN OF IT, can I then call myself a pilot???

Let’s just get the licence first.

So your remarks:

I flew from The Green for a short while. Is Very Large Barry still an instructor there?

I do not know a barry then again I do know lots of fat CFIS.
They get in that state and get a class one whist I have to fly on a PPL basis, and I stay fit.

Danm them fattos.

ahh i did my flying scholarship at egbo, did a lot more than that at egwc tho!

that place is going to get quite a makeover soon! I had a friend who was an afiso in the halfpenny green tower but he got paid pretty well for doing that and did a lot of flying on the field, he did some summer work with the fire brigade their too.

Actually Robert you gave your email in your third post. The first 4 letters were HGFC which were a fairly safe bet for Halfpenny Green Flying Club!

The glider towing positions (at places such as Lasham, Booker, Husbands Bosworth, etc) tend to be summer only and are on the same basis as you described for parachute dropping. Types involved are usually Robins, Rallyes, Supercubs and crop sprayers such as Pawnees.

I see what you mean about the reason for not being able to get a class 1. I don’t think there’s any way round that one! Another alternative for the ‘ahem’ career path is glider towing.

WOW TELL ME MORE HOW DO I DO THAT?
WHAT ARE THE MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS?
CAN YOU DO IT WITH A PPL/NPPL.
HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT IT?

IM ALL EARS.

The e-mail.

Oh now I get it, I was in a pickle for a while, you got it form the e-mail site, so are you familiar with EGBO?

What licence do you hold and how often do you fly, as you are at Heathrow, you either have lot’s of money for G.A parking or your a big time commercial pilot? (Fancy selling you ATPL to me, just kidding, unless you really want to:p

Don’t worry my friend…it’s just that some of your ideas are, shall we say, a bit unusual. For example, the security reasons for not mentioning Halfpenny Green. Oops!

I’m curious to know what the medical problem is that allows you a class 2 but not a class 1.

PS what is your first name…I can’t refer to you as R!

The problem occurs when you say things like – ‘I have just found a job flying skydives up to 12,000ft in a c182’ and ‘jobs available to NPPLS/PPLS’. If you wish to be paid for flying (and even paid for other jobs in a round about way with flying) you are supposed to be suitably licensed. If you have any doubt, a quick phone call to the CAA will resolve the issue.

Be careful about what you say in public as this is a massive grey area that could open a can of worms for you.

I am learning in the midlands, I won’t give the aerodrome for security reasons but I have got 25hours, im not boasting but I am so proud to have done it at 16 years old.

My first solo was not scary it was great fun, as I rotated at 65 like any first solo pilot I burst into song.

🙂 Welcome.

Good luck with your ‘Fly-for-free jobs’

There may be some about, but I think you may find that the wages attaching to them will mean giving up some of life’s luxuries.

Like eating. 🙁

How far down your PPL course are you?

Where are you learning?

Moggy
