Highland Airways New ATR's

Hi all,

I see that Highland Airways are recruiting New Pilots for ATR 42/72.

Anyone got any news on what routes these are going to be doing?

As far as I understood, they got rid of G-IONA (Still owned by them I believe) as it was too unreliable and used a Shorts 360 on the mail route instead.

What aircraft are they going to be? There is possible G-IONA, G-DRFC and G-RHUM at Coventry, any other guesses?

Air Wales might not be needing so many ATR’s soon?? ITALY First have gone under with a few ATR’s and Air Lithuania (Highland’s buddies) have gone bust too, with a couple of ATR’s??? hmmmm………

So, what are these ATR’s for? New Routes? New Contracts?

Eastern & Flybe are expanding into Inverness, are Highland doing something about it?

It appears that Highland advertising for ATR crews is just a technical thing.

The ATR’s operate under the Highland AOC for Air Atlantique. Therefore, it is Highland who have to hire crews

Perhaps they are needed to cover the Atlantic Express scheduled service operation.

Highland are part of the Atlantique group. Hence the Atlantic-ish connections.

They are approved for ATR engineering up at Inverness now. Which would seem to indicate that they’d have them based there.

1 month and Air Wales are going to be selling some ATR’s hmm….. the saga deepens

Well i hope they have better luck this time with the atr , Last time It was never away from Glasgow due to Tech Problems , and Highland had to sub in J31 and short 360’s, but Im sure that they have some sort of connection to Air Atlantique, because , G-IONA , quickly sprouted the Osprey on it’s tail after arriving

G-IONA went to Atlantic ages ago and Highland used various Aerocondor 360’s for the Glasgow-Highlands and Islands mail service after that.

I’d be interested to know what the ATR’s will be doing ?
