HISPANO HA-1112 BUCHON SURVIVORS

Hi All,

I was wondering if any one had any information on the world’s surviving Hispano HA-1112 Buchons. I had done a few searches on the net but I was unable to come up with any numbers of the total survivors…flyers and static. I had found information on specific examples etc but nothing on all of them..

Forum Links etc?

I am also looking for a cockpit interior photograph on an original configured Buchon..I have seen a picture of the cockpit of N109ME but I am not sure if this cockpit is original to this aircraft as it looks quite different than I expected.

I rather like the smoother nose of the Hispano-engined aircraft – slightly more in keeping with its German-built cousin.

Those pics appear to be of the late CAF Buchon, NX8575, judging by the colours around the canopy

Thanks Steve…for facts….very interesting actually…

Is the Hispano Suiza motor an inverted V-12?

And yes maybe Hamilton could use something with alittle foreign taste.. πŸ™‚

CAvM Buchon

Hi BC–

Here’s what I’ve got on CAvM’s Ha1112 M1L; paraphrased from Ken Molson’s 1989 book on what was then NAM…

Ex EdA 471 Sqn (of 7 Wing); obtained for BoB film but not used; purchased by Canadian War Museum in 1967 in UK; stored longterm at Rockcliffe. Restored in mid-80s and went on display in EdA livery in the new NAM building in 1988, representing the Me109 series.

(In 1999 a Me109F ex-Russia was acquired, also from the UK, and went on display in the Buchon’s place next to the wonkily-painted Spitfire IX. The Buchon then went out to WCAM at Winnipeg on loan. It returned to storage in the new CAvM “Aladdin’s Cave” in spring 2005. It would, cough cough, be cool to see it on loan again at, oh I dunno, Mt.Hope??) πŸ˜€

Cees

During my research I couldn’t track down any specific aircraft, although the first of the Messerschmitt Flight’s aircraft did have some wk.nr. stamped on parts. The aircraft was badly damaged in a crash and later replaced with the current ‘G-6’. It is possible that parts only were of German origin, rather than the complete fuselage.
Of course several Buchon owners say they have one of the fabled 25 original G-2 airframes…….adds to the value πŸ˜‰
To date no further German manufacturing stamps have been found on surviving airframes, most of which have been very well inspected over the years!

Are there any Buchons left from the first batch of German manufactured
airframes that were supplied during the war?

Cheers

And it’s a little-known fact that a German-language film about Hans Joachim-Marseille , “Der Stern von Afrika”, used the Ha-1109 in place of the real thing….
