The BBC web site is reporting a pilot has died in a crash near Middle Wallop. Link below – be aware that it contains a photo of burning wreckage. The presence of one of the Junkers C1 replicas in the photograph is horribly suggestive of something within this forum’s remit.
Blue skies, whoever you were.

BBC Radio stated the next of kin had been informed, but i see according to Propstrikes newspaper link they are still trying to trace them, so apologies from me for quoting names from the website.

Indeed – lets respect the situation; once the identity of the pilot has been released, it is an appropriate time to eulogise, but not until.

Please let’s not try to second guess pilots names, they have probably not been released yet because family members still need to be informed, and families looking for information on google may come across this thread.
It said somewhere they have been told, but agreed anyway.

Terrible news, I have huge amounts of respect for this team and their lovely replicas and 2013 was looking really special for them with 2 new aircraft(one of which I fear is involved here) joining the team.
My sympathies to the pilot’s family and colleagues.

The crash site is on the airfield, that bungalow in the video was the Married Quarter for the CO of 609 Sqn during the Battle of Britain when it had Spitfires parked on its lawn.

Yes i’d agree, the surviving tail surfaces do look like the Eindecker’s.
But whoever it was its a tragic loss to all concerned.

The aircraft lost was a WW1 replica Fokker monoplane.
A witness quotes ” it was performing quite steep turns and appeared to side-slip into the ground”
Very sad news, and a cruel injustice to lose such an experienced constructor and pilot .

This pictured plane flew over Wokingham with a Triplane this morning around 10 am heading toward Hampshire.
