John is a legend in his own lunchtime – he has been part of HFL almost from day one, and is the longest standing employee! He is also the shortest guy in Historic Aviation being a little over 4′ tall. John is mostly the painter these days. I suspect that Chris is looking for pictures of him before he discovered the delights of the Sawston McDonalds! (not that I can talk!!)

I remember going to Saffron WAlden at just about the time that their first four Spits were finished – and it seemed that all of them were in the air over Walden that day being run through their paces. Lovely!

I used to Live in Saffron Walden, lovely sounds ,but people living in the town did’nt always seem as pleased to see and hear them, heathens.
I have a small bit of video footage of them landing there i think taken from the Beechy ride area and fields.
I did video a display that took place over Carver [Debden Barracks] with a Spitfire [A-NN i think],also the big antov Bi -plane and a harvard.

The gentleman in the wheelchair just happens to be one of my all time heroes.
I reckon Mark’s hero is Jeffrey Quill.

The book ‘Spitfires and Polished Metal’ by Moss and McKee has a couple of hundred shots of HFL activities at AE.
