If it must be scrapped why Turkey? ABLE based at Hartlepool, who are scrapping the Clemenceau, spring to mind and it would have a least meant jobs for people in UK. Anyway some more pics here.

Very sad to see the old girl go; flew sorties to Iraq off her in 2003. Many happy, and some extremely sad memories. It’s a disgrace that a country that has offered so much in Carrier technology cannot justify even one as a floating museum. If not Ark, then Vince should have been saved as a Falklands museum.
Unfortunately for Ark the writing was on the wall in 2010; the previous Govt had ignored all military advice to cut unaffordable programs, but cynically refused to do so before the election. Therefore several projects were kept alive at the cost of £Bns to buy votes. Coupled with a RN brass who would do[I]anything[I] to get big capital ships again (naming them after Royals perhaps….?) to overcome decades of relative embarrassment, her fate was sealed.

This is what I posted on another forum(saves me rewriting it)
“So that is the end of the Royal Navy as a credible sea power. No Aircraft Carriers,No Aircraft, No Maritime Survaliance(since the JCB,s went through the Nimrods) Perfectly good Destroyers scrapped or awaiting scrapping or sale for peanuts. So what can we look forward too? Two Aircraft Carriers with no aircraft for 10 years(if we can work out what style of F35 we want) and Rivet Joint. It makes me weep and bl**dy angry at the same time! Our nations security is being tossed away. I hope Cameron and co do not rue the day they did this. Still I understand MP’s are asking for a £10,000 a year pay rise so perhaps the sacrifice is not in vain,”
