Hi Kev, my dad got this certificate but didn’t really tell us much about it. He has passed away now and I’d love to find out more about it. Lynn

A complete tragedy that we are losing so much thanks to the politicians.
Despite this some amazing photos so many thanks for posting them up.

Lovely photo’s.
The tail of the 800 NAS Harrier carrying the Battle Honour for Spartivento reminds me of the unusual circumstamces in which men can find themselves fighting a war. A contingent of ground crew of 37 Squadron were travelling to the Middle East aboard HMS Manchester when she became engaged in the Battle of Spartivento. At some point in the battle an ammunition feed broke down so these airmen from 37 Squadron manually passed the shells, by hand, from the ammunition store to the turret. In recognition of their actions they all received a certificate from the Captain of the Manchester.
Regards,
kev35

retirement of Ark Royal, with no replacement in the near future,, proof once again that when we think politicians can get no stupider they prove us wrong again.

Nice pictures of a sad occasion, thanks for sharing.
Interesting to note though that this last Ark has actually served more years than the last conventional fixed-wing ‘classic Ark’.
