HMS Belfast and HMS Westminster on a very grey London day

I thought I would take the opportunity to catch a few shots of HMS Belfast celebrating her 75th anniversary with HMS Westminster.
My late Grandad served on HMS Urchin during World war II and served along side HMS Belfast information on HMS Urchin is here http://www.naval-history.net/xGM-Chrono-10DD-59U-Urchin.htm.
I have always felt HMS Belfast is something special and seeing her reminds me of Grandad and all the heroes who served in the Royal Navy.
The weather was really wet and windy and sky was as grey as the ships themselves

I think its a disgrace that Merseyside and the massive tourist footprint it supports cannot manage to find a safe home for it! It would be a great addition to the Maritime museum or alternatively the Manchester Ship Canal could offer up other options!

Pity HMS Plymouth was not moored with Belfast to remember veterans of later wars and to allow comparisons between the two to be made. Shame that she is going to go fro scrap instead.

I know we can’t save them all, but…:(
