Holiday – picture report

I went to Gran Canaria for 14 days and took a little time to take some aviation pictures. The quality is not up to the usual standard as I only took my little Coolpix 3500 with me, as spotting was mot supposed to play a big part in the trip.

some comments on the pics

1. Islas ATR

2. Spanair on short finals

3. nothing special

4. the Swiss are coming

5. close up of the old Douglas stored at the small aerodrome of the local aeroclub

6. landing at LPA with a Binter waiting for take-off on 03R

7. rustng away

8. shortly after take-off from DUS in 753 D-ABON we crossed the Rhine river

9. Spotteres terrace at the DUS train station

10. Binter Canarias on finals to LPA

Thx for the kind words, I thought I should share some more.

If any one is interested in German charter carriers landing at LPA I can give you more of that. For me it was a really wasted afternoon. Only Binters, Islas and german carriers, all those I can get more then enough at DUS.

But here are some more interesting pics

1. during taxi to take-off at DUS I got a a pic of that Russian heavy. I bet I would have been spotting that day, if we would not have gone on holidays

2. the coast of Portugal

3. the harbor of Las Palmas

4. landing on 03L, while a Binter was eagerly waiting fpr take-off on 03R

5. can you go spotting in Spain and return without an Iberia ??

6. more spanish carriers

7. another new addition to my collection

8. new Swiss charter carrier operating an MD90-30. That was luck

9. Reginol airline from Morroco

Been to Gran Caneriaa myself, but that was back in 99 – in those days there was a new Airtours hotel (timeshare place) near the smaller airstrip where the DC-6 is stored, and airtours had the aircraft painted up in AIH livery – certainly interesting passing it on the motorway! Hope they didnt intend to use it as a back up if the shiny A321 arrived on went tech!!! πŸ˜‰

Great pics!

Good camera the Coolpix. I haven’t used a 3500 but we have a 5000 and a 8700. They both produce superb shots. The 8700 in particular with its monster 8.0 megapixel capability returns breath-taking shots.

Don’t think my boss would appreciate it much if it took it on holiday, or even on my day off for some plane snapping though…

Btw. I can strongly recommend spotting at LPA. Although all spotting guides I have seen on the web are quite wrong and donΒ΄t bring you to the best spots.

Very nice collection, it’s been a couple of years since I visited Gran Canaria which is also the scene of my first ever DC-10 flight. I passed the abandoned Douglas on a bus too, didn’t stop for a picture though. πŸ˜€

Great to see those 707’s still flying isn’t it ?

Very good pics indeed and it’s always nice to see a 707! πŸ™‚

1. Binter in new colors

2. spanish Air Force 707 tanker. So loud, so smokey and sooooo nice
