Hood Aerodrome , Masterton , Saturday

The weather forecasters had it wrong , and many missed out on magic because of this , the crowd was really thin , but the airshow was magnificent . The weather was great , warm with little wind , a few clouds , no rain . Where else in the world would you see , an FE2 fly ? Let alone side by side with a BE2C and a BE2f ! These aircraft were just so interesting to see flying , unexpectedly quite , so slow that they seemed to almost have to claw their way through the air . Three replica Fokker Dr1’s were complemented by three even better SE5a’s . There was a Tripehound , Camel , an Albatross DVa , Fokker DVII and an ill running Avro 504 , a delightful Neiuport Bebe . There was even an Ex RAF Harrier pilot who wanted a lifestyle change and was displaying in a Harvard . Paper streamers were cut with Tiger Moths and a Stampe and the Filthy Hun was flour bombed by the same . All in all a wonderful day . To all those involved with organising and running this event thank you so much . You put on a world class act , Old Warden look out , you have competition .

It’s also a pity that Hood is so far from Cambridge. But not nearly as far as Old Warden.

Looking at those pictures it is a shame that Hood is so far from Oxford.

I can’t see either location attracting punters away from the other with them being opposite end of the planet.. Good to know other locations can match OW though. If they can match that then their success should be in no doubt.

Totally agree it is just such a shame , from my point of view , that Biggleswade is so far away from Ohope !
