You may have read in FlyPast about the war veteran Spitifire being restored here in Houston, Texas. I think the last report a couple months ago was that it was airborne.
Well, it can fly… It flew from it’s owner’s hanager to a local airport near where I work, and I got to look it over a couple times in the last 2 wks.
It is a gem, and the hangar doing the paint job is very meticiolus. The shop owner,John, showed me a book full of documentation on it, including the Free French pilot who flew this aircraft in WW2. John was very friendly and told me all sorts of stories about the plane and its history, and said I could post a couple of pix.
It is due to get its Free French markings this time.
Next to it in the hangar is the Lone Star museum Bearcat stripped to anodized aluminum for its respray.
I hope to give updates every so often…

Excellent!
It’ll be nice to see a Free French Spit in the air!
