I know that last year they were having poor load factors on their passenger flights to Chicago and Washington from Manchester especially after September 11th,but how are their flights doing now, have they picked up?Also why in the first place were they not that succesful?

RE: How are BMI’s transatlantic services doing?
I agree I think there is a limit to what MAN can cope with demand-wise. A west coast route may have been a better bet SFO or LAX maybe.

I read in a magazine that BMI had hoped to operate to the US out of LHR by the summer, anyone know anything about this?

Yes, I believe BMI wanted their USA flights to have slots at LHR but there was no room so they settled for MAN. I don’t think there is a huge demand (on top of the current flights from MCT) to the USA from Manchester.

RE: How are BMI’s transatlantic services doing?
Hi
I tried to fly on BMI in Feb this year to get to New Orleans. Everything was going fine until there was a schedule change.I would have ended up waiting in CHI for longer than the flight took to get from Manchester over there. I tried to alter to fly via Washington but they just couldn’t sort it out. in the end I scapped the who thing and went US Airways, which was fine, and on their new A330, very nice !!
To answer your question, I understand they are still not doing that great, I think they launched the routes to try and prompt a LHR- US decision.

I flew with BMi from Manchester to Washington, and Chicago to Washington, both these flights were full! This could be due to the easter school holidays, but I didn’t see many children!
