How bad can Discovery Wings get?

The channel has always been pretty naff (IMHO) for having a limited number of progammes that are repeated endlessly but I watched for a while tonight because they had a whole hour devoted to Atlantic liners. I don’t mean Constellations, Stratocruisers or even 707s but it was about the Queen mary and the Normandie.

To Discovery Wings, with the greatest respect.

GET A GRIP!

Worked with John when he was in the mob flying Tonkas at Laarbruch, had no probs with him there……….Think it’s the media and other people that see him as you say!!

If you think he’s an A$%^ you should have tried Pablo !!!!!

Pablo now why does that name ring some awful bells sounds like a tall gangly plonker that had a rotten moustache as I remember and used to fly Wessex at Odiham, But there I am probably wrong.

If I got a £1 royalty every time Wings showed “A Spitfires Story” I’d have about £10,000 by now!

So nothing has changed for you then! 😉 😀 And are you still hopping about with one foot up your backside, like you told me last winter, or have you found a new way of hopping along? :dev2: :diablo: 😀 😀

I just spent 32 hours hopping around in the Rearwin!

I think we can all learn something from this thread. John Nicols isnt a good presenter. Melv, heard some of your commentating in the background of a few Dunsfold videos, this was absolutly top notch stuff why dont you take john Nicol’s Job you’d do us all proud. anyways shut up Pike (me) 😀

No, we all keep looking at the menu thingy on sky digital and thinking “A Spitfire’s Story? AGAIN!” There’s tons of good stuff on tape/film/disk or whatever the preferred media is for repeated rebroadcast, so a little bit of imagination would result in a bit of variation in the programming… Go on Discovery – put a little effort in, you know it’s worth it.

Oh and Digby – you obviously haven’t been “blessed” with Sky 🙂 The “loads of other channels” consist of 97% total pooh (I know, I know, but it wouldn’t let me type ****), and the other 3% is repeats. I’m with Janie – spend the £42 a month on something you REALLY want 😀 I’m very close to cancelling it and putting the money towards flying lessons…

Now reading this thread it seems that people are moaning about repeat showings of the said shows (rightly so) so if you all know that they keep showing repeats then it means that you all still keep watching them to know this. SO WHY MOAN still loads of other channels to watch or slip in the complete series of Legends videos.

No. it is called channel hopping in the vain hope they might have actually pulled their finger out and found something new. Normally I just carry on by and let the endless repeats wind off into the ether. However, imagine my surprise when I found they had gor a NEW programme, a documentary on ocean liners (see post one). I just wonder how often they will repeat this.

and why moan? Indeed why, I generally don’t and carry on hopping until I find something that is worth watching but since I am paying for a service and that includes Discovery Wings and they are showing programmes about ocean liners then I feel a comment is acceptable.

And why the hell would I want to watch a complete series of legends videos? I thought that was Saturday night on DW.

Wow, a program about vintage aircraft low loaders!

I quit paying for Sky – poor value for money. I use the money for avgas now.

Very, very wise.

It’s as bad as the commentary at Legends last year half the time. My own opinion.

I was flabbergasted to hear last year that Yeovil and RNAS Yeovilton are actually in Devon and not Somerset.
Of course with Mr Nichol’s RAF background and role in mind, I have to take his word for it. 😉
